1944: Injured Ellsworth Boy Returns from Hospital

Elmer DeBoer, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake DeBoer, who lived seven miles south of Worthington, went home from the hospital after having been shot in the right lung.

The bullet was lodged in the back of his shoulder and was scheduled to be removed in Rochester, almost certainly at the Mayo Clinic. If Elmer is still around, he is 80 years old.

Next post at noon.
