1959: Blizzard Strikes Worthington

A snowstorm hit Worthington in early November 1959.

Worthington policemen making their rounds at midnight were among the few residents on city streets as the first snow storm of the season settled over southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa Wednesday night. Officer Wayne Radenbough (am I reading that remotely correctly?) Redenbaugh (thanks, Sea Town!) trudged through the new snow in an alley and past a dilapidated refrigerator which prompted him to remark later, "It was like an ice box out there." By dawn the snowfall totaled three inches and the temperature was 15 degrees.

Next post at noon.

It looks like “Radenbaugh” in the cutline, but it’s Redenbaugh.

Aha! Thanks. Let me fix that…
