There was usually one of these killed or missing in action notices in every issue of the 1944 Daily Globe, each heartbreaking and each accompanied by a picture of a handsome, seemingly far-too-young-to-join-up soldier.
This boy was Pvt. Louis Uphoff, killed in action in November 16, 1944.
