1945: Right Waist Gunner Gets Distinguished Flying Cross

Harry Metz was a right waist gunner on a Liberator, and in this 1945 photo he was receiving the distinguished flying cross for aerial bombardment operations against Japan in the Central Pacific.

Metz had completed 40 missions, and no, that’s not a typo. Yowza!
