PFC Harold Tripp was a U.S. military policeman in North Africa when German bombers attacked – as in the opening scenes from, “Patton.” A German bomb created a fire which became a target of light for the attacking Germans. Harold helped to extinguish that fire as bombers zeroed in. He was awarded a Silver Star and he is given mention in Ernie Pyle’s book, “Brave Men.”
