2010: Ch-ch-ch-changes

As you can see, AreaVoices has been upgraded, and there are still some bugs the folks at Forum Communications Company are working out.

Also, I am expecting them to change the address of this blog again, hopefully, and things are still in flux. As such, I’m not going to update for a couple more days, and will instead spend the time I normally spend slinging updates editing images. That way, when I do update, hopefully I’ll be able to catch up all the posts I missed almost immediately.

Also: The comments posted prior to the changeover seem to have disappeared. I’m not sure if that’s permanent or not. However, you can still comment on my blog, and I very much hope you do!

There’s lots of customization options with WordPress and it’s going to take me a long time to figure it all out (seconds to learn, a lifetime to master, maybe?) and so I hope you will bear with me and take any changes in appearance or style in stride.

Sorry about all this, but I do think it will be better in the long run.

(And yes, the appearance of the Globe’s other blogs will also change so that each has their own customized look again. It’s just going to take a while. Again, my apologies!)

So far, I don’t like the changes. I preferred the old look and methods and the links that were supplied on each page to the other blogs.

  2. I have restored the links on Reprint, and eventually the links to the Globe’s blogs, at the least, will be on every Globe blog again.

The looks of the blogs are highly, highly customizable, and I very much expect that all the Daily Globe blogs will look quite different from each other again soon, designwise.

Part of the problem we’re experiencing now is that some of us are locked out of our blogs somehow. I haven’t been able to get into Shiny Thing, and I know a few others are also unable to update. This is why Shiny, Farm Bleat, Lagniappe and Tales from the Chief look all the same and haven’t had any new posts.

Forum is working on it, and I’m positive it’ll get fixed soon.

I have even been hesitant to update this blog because the address should be changing to reprint.areavoices.com, and I’m not sure if I’ll lose all the changes I’ve made to the menus and design or not.

Is there anything Reprint had before that is now missing? I can’t say I’ll do whatever you say, but the design right now is still very fluid and I definitely welcome suggestions.

Once all the kinks are worked out, this will be a much better blogging system. It’s just that you can’t move that much data around without having some bugs crop up here and there, and bugs take a while to squoosh.
