1939: Grass Greens for Golf

The Worthington Country Club was putting in grass greens in 1939.

I played on sand greens throughout my time in high school golf, and let me tell you: I still can’t putt. I can’t really play any other part of golf either, but I especially can’t putt.

I chose to go back to 1939 because we just saw the end of the war in 1945 and I wanted to see the beginning. We all have 20/20 hindsight, but the historicity of events and how they would play out was not so very obvious in 1939.
